Senior Researcher within the UMR 1225 IHAP in Toulouse, which is a joint research unit between INRA and the Toulouse Veterinary School (ENVT). INRA is the largest Research Institute in Europe dedicated to Agricultural Research. ENVT is one of 4 French Veterinary Schools. The UMR IHAP’s research focuses on interactions between host animals and pathogens. Within IHAP, Dr Hoste’ team works on the “Interactions between Nematodes and the Digestive Environment”.

Hervé Hoste as Directeur de Recherche in INRA (UMR 1225 IHAP Toulouse) has conducted research in Vet Parasitology/Helminthology in small ruminants for more than 30 years with aprox. 170 publications in scientific journals of Parasitology or Veterinary Sciences, book chapters and R&D articles to disseminating results towards the end-users. According to the web of knowledge (July 2017) his H index is 36.

For the last 20 years, his main field of research has focused on the alternatives to commercial anthelmintic drugs to control GINs in sheep and goats, in particular by exploring the concept of nutraceuticals use based on the model of tannin containing resources. These researches have combined both basic researches to analyse the mode of action of natural compounds against the worms and more applied researches to define the most pertinent way to use of such resources in farm conditions.

Within these different fields of researches, Hervé Hoste has supervised (and is supervising) 15 past or present PhD ‘s projects and 4 post doctoral. Hervé Hoste has been involved in the organization of the scientific committees of several conferences concerning the control of nematodes in small ruminants. In particular, being the co chair of a COST action, he participated in several meetings and was the local organizer of the 7th joined conference CAPARA/ Novel Approaches to control helminths.

He is Herand has been reviewer for more than 50 international journals. He is a member of the following professional associations: French Society of Parasitology; WAAVP (World Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology); Australian Society for Parasitology; and is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Parasitologists. Since 2012, he is also a member of the Board of the International Goat Association.
