How genotype and feeding regime interactions regulate leptin in fish

Room 2.31a I Building 7 I Gambelas Campus

Topic:

The role of genetic background and dietary manipulations in shaping the circulating levels of leptin in the blood plasma of Sparus aurata. The objective of the project is to examine whether leptin levels are correlated with feed conversion efficiency and growth potential in sea bream. Leptin is an adipomyokine that communicates the levels of lipid energy reserves in the periphery to the central nervous system. This project will correlate plasma leptin levels with measurements of key intermediates (triglycerides, cholesterol) in lipid metabolism as well as the feed conversion efficiency and growth in sea bream.
