Nature-inspired design for coastal restoration using seagrass

Friday, May 17, 2019
at
Room 2.31 I Building 7 I Gambelas Campus

In this seminar, we’ll be talking about the Ecosystem based coastal stabilisation solutions.

The Coastbuster project aims to develop nature-inspired design concepts that enhances coastal zone resilience by using innovative bio stabilization methods. The successful implementation and the development of a coastal
protection system based on the immobilization of the “foreshore” by means of innovative geotextiles that are overgrown with marine plants would be an innovative breakthrough.

About our speaker:

Riccardo Pieraccini’s research interests cover a broad spectrum and he favours topics on protection, conservation and restoration of seagrass meadows. He came to CCMAR with the Assemble Plus programme.
