Key areas of research:

  • Early Nutrition: Nutrient fluxes, Biomarkers, Metabolic programming
  • Reproductive biotechnology: Cryobanking, Gamete quality, Reproduction management

The mission of the Aquaculture Research Group is to promote the sustainable development of the aquaculture industry, through basic and applied research. The development, optimization and implementation of successful farming techniques for new aquaculture species, namely sole (Solea senegalensis) have assumed a central role in research activities. Throughout the last years, the Aquagroup team has been under progression in terms of its scientific expertise, technical skills and experimental capacities. It has now assembled a range of competences that allow a multidisciplinary approach of several research themes, which have been integrated in two key areas (Early Nutrition and Reproductive Biotechnology).
