New on Board: Teresa Correia

Tell us a bit about the work you are/will be doing at CCMAR.

I will join CEIB group and will work on the OPTIMAR project. As part of this project, I will be developing an optical imaging system and software for real-time 3D in vivo imaging at the mesoscopic scale. Initially, this system will be used for studying the molecular mechanisms regulating flatfish metamorphosis. However, I’m interested in other applications and I’m hoping to collaborate with many of you at CCMAR. Please feel free to contact me and say “Hi/Olá”!

What were you doing before you joined us?

I was a PI and research fellow at King’s College London. My research involved the development of novel image reconstruction and processing techniques for cardiac MRI, and their translation into clinical practice, to improve the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. Before that, I was a post-doctoral research associate at University College London, where I worked in the area of inverse problems and optical imaging applied to preclinical cancer models and human brain function.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy live music shows, vinyl records, motorcycle rides, travelling, sports, spending time with my friends, going to the beach (not in August), cocktails (or beer and “tremoços”) and sunsets.
