Students visits to the CCMAR are back
In two days, and with due safety measures, given the context of the pandemic of COVID-19, students from the 1st grade education at Colégio Bernardette Romeira, in Olhão, got to know a little more about the research we do at CCMAR.
Our researchers set up spaced tables with practical and symbolic activities that allowed students to extract DNA from the strawberry, understand how carbon dioxide works and what is its impact on marine species, see traces of pollution and microplastics that we find on our beaches and also understand how microorganisms are found in our food and what we do in terms of food security.
The exploratory activities provided these children with a different morning, in contact with scientists from our Research centre. For our researchers, this was the resumption of outreach activities developed with schools, although with strict safety and hygiene measures.
