NEW ON BOARD: Aleksandra Musiał

1. Tell us a bit about the work you will be doing at CCMAR.

In CCMAR I do a traineeship, which is focus on researching a deep sea shark's feeding ecology. In this project I will be analyze stomach contents of 3 shark species.

2. What were you doing before you joined us?

I have been studying in University of Gdansk (Poland) for 5 years in the field of Marine Biology. I was focused on antarctic ecosystem and zooplankton. Mainly considering impact of climate change on Antarctic animals. As a Master's thesis I have been researching diet of 3 species of Antarctic penguins. Last year I was working for 5 weeks in Australian Antarctic Division (Kingston, Tasmania AUS) with a Marine Research Aquarium Team. I was learning a method of krill aging based on band counts in eyestalks. This method is very innovative and important to better understand changes in krill population and production.

3. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I really like to spend my freetime outside the home, enjoying nature. If I have a few days off I like to travel and explore new places. Evenings I enjoy music and good book :)
