Tell us a bit about the work you’ll be doing at CCMAR.
My name is Cláudia Guerreiro and I am from Faro.
I have a master degree in Human Biology and Environment, held at the Faculty of Science, in Lisbon University, and a degree in Biology, held at the Algarve University.
At the moment, I am doing a professional internship at Comparative Endocrinology and Integrative Biology group, in CCMAR.
Here, I am executing different techniques of Molecular Biology and Histology, like gene cloning, competent cells transformation, nucleic acids extraction, PCR and Real-Time PCR and histological analysis of fish tissues. I will also perform bioinformatics data analysis (primers design, sequences analysis) and the bibliographic research about the project I am involved.
I have a great interest and pleasure in the various areas that integrate Biological Sciences, which leads me to want to learn and grow professionally in this area.

What were you doing before you joined us?
A year ago, I came back to Faro to do voluntary work at Algarve University (CCMAR group).
Before that I worked at IMM- Instituto de Medicina Molecular in Lisbon, in Quality and Safety in the Laboratory Department, in a technician position.

What interests and hobbies do you enjoy when you are not doing science?
In my free times I like to go out and travel, meet new cities. I also like to dance, read some books and read about scientific news too.
